Neighborhood Bird Outing: Carkeek Park Scope and Sip (All ages welcome!)

This event is open to ALL AGES! Neighborhood Bird Outings are open to all with no pre-registration required. Group size will vary. Outings occur rain or shine, though will be canceled for dangerous weather conditions. Please leave pets at home. Leaders: Jordan Juranek (she/her) and Lindsey Johnson (she/her) NextGen Council members Meeting Point: Carkeek Park: the parking lot closest to the beach, next to the playground. 950 NW Carkeek Park Rd, Seattle, WA 98177 Bike Parking: Outdoor bike racks available, bring a lock Trip Accessibility: 0, A, flat pavement, optional grass area. No walking. We will be set up near the park benches right next to the ADA parking spots. This bird outing is designed to be intentionally inclusive and accessible for beginner and advanced birders. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome. Feel free to bring chairs if you like. If you have any questions about the accessibility of the outing, please contact us. Description: Join us at the bluff overlooking the beach at Carkeek Park where we will spend a relaxed morning with spotting scopes and coffees surveying the Puget Sound for sea and shore birds. This will be a laid-back morning so feel encouraged to stop in anytime between 9 and 11, bring snacks, beverages, and chairs. We will have scopes and binoculars available but please feel encouraged to bring your own binoculars as well. Restrooms are open at the park. Target birds: Cormorants, Brant, Scoter, Murres, Bufflehead, Grebes, Loons, Mergansers, Goldeneye, Auklets, Bald Eagle, and more!
