Field Trip: Skagit Valley Multi Stop

Register for the WAITLIST. https://secure.birdsconnectsea.org/a/skagitoct2026 Leaders: Jen Yu (she/her) and Penny Bolton (she/her) Meet: Meet at 7am at Green Lake Park & Ride 6601 8th Ave NE, Seattle 98115, on the southern end of the northern lot. We will be riding together in the Birds Connect Seattle 15 passenger van. The cost of gas is included in the ticket price. If you need to ride separately, please let us know and then you will meet the group at 8:15am at Wiley Slough. Trip Accessibility: Pace- 1 leisurely Terrain- B soft ground, sand, gravel, dirt roads Estimated mileage - ~4 miles Participant Limit:12 Join us for a full day of birding through some of the Skagit Valley's richest coastal and agricultural habitats! We will track shoreline, marsh, and farmland species across three birding hotspots: Wiley Slough: We will start our morning exploring the restored tidal estuary and freshwater marsh trails, scanning for waterfowl, wading birds, raptors and songbirds in the riparian thickets. Fir Island: Next, we will loop through the surrounding agricultural flats, keeping an eye out for raptors, shorebirds in flooded fields, and wintering flocks foraging across the farmland. Bayview State Park & Padilla Bay: We will wrap up our route along Padilla Bay, scoping the mudflats and marine waters for diving ducks, loons, grebes, and coastal shorebirds feeding on the tide. We expect to return to the Park and Ride around 5pm.
