If you need to coordinate carpooling, please reach out to Jordan directly* Limit: 20 Trip Accessibility: 1 (leisurely pace), B (mostly soft ground trails and boardwalk), ~ 4 miles Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge includes a combination of estuaries, tide flats, freshwater marshes, woodlands, and grasslands. The Nisqually Delta is a major non-coastal resting and feeding area for migrating birds and there are few places in the region better for observing them. We will walk the forest and barn trails and go as far out on the boardwalk as we care to go. This event involves several miles of walking on good, flat trails with restroom opportunities at the start and mid-way. We'll spend about 4 hours in the field and finish around 11:30am. After birding, join us (totally optional!) at a nearby lunch spot for some hot food and drinks! Optional lunch and hangout done around ~1-2PM Please dress for the weather and potential rain and wind, and pack some food, snacks, and water. This is a federal facility, so a Discover Pass is not applicable. There is a refuge fee of $3 (bring cash) per vehicle. There are public restrooms at the start and end of our route. Photography welcome & encouraged. Spotting scopes encouraged.
