Join us for a Mindful Birding Walk along the Sammamish River Trail! Slow down, engage your senses, and connect with the local autumn environment on this gentle morning walk. Starting from the Redmond Library, we will quickly connect to the Sammamish River Trail, which offers a beautiful, open riparian habitat transitioning into its October foliage. This walk is designed to be a mindful, slow-paced experience where we practice deep listening and observational awareness. The trail is completely paved and flat, making it highly accessible and a wonderful option for birders of all experience levels. Because this habitat blends river ecology with open brush and parkland, we will keep our eyes and ears open for resident and autumn-migrating species. We can expect to see or hear a variety of waterfowl and herons by the water, resident songbirds like song sparrows, black-capped chickadees, and cedar waxwings, as well as raptors hunting overhead as the seasonal shifts settle in. Please bring binoculars if you have them, water, and comfortable walking shoes. No dogs, please, to help us keep a quiet and attentive presence for the birds.
